Greetings from our family….
This year Christmas preparation will be different! I just enlisted the aide of our 13 year old daughter Anne to direct the creating, purchasing, procuring, wrapping and finally mailing Christmas presents for our extended family. I am excited, but I don’t think she knows what she just agreed to. We have the list ready and most importantly the budget set; now we are pouring over catalogs and sharing ideas for homemade presents and thinking deeply about each and everyone on our list. This should prove educational too (can I credit the time she spends on this project under Math, keeping tally of the list or economics keeping to the budget, or Religion as we pray for each person before we make our decisions?). I love spending time with her having this extra one on one time together is my treat, it is a welcome opportunity for us to get to know each other. Our hope is that you too are enjoying your children, the time we have with them is precious and life is way too fragile.
Please let me share a recent shining moment. Our 8 year old son Stephen was peering over my shoulder as Anne and I flipped the pages of the multitude of catalogs that had just arrived by mail today.
He announced curiously, “What are you looking for?”
I replied halfway paying attention to him, “Oh, Christmas presents for your cousins.”
He then squirmed even closer to me to get a better view and after several minutes glancing the pages in front to us he in a matter of fact tone said, “Mama, but where is Jesus?”
It is with joyful assurance that we can say that none of your children will ask you “Where is Jesus?” when they look over your shoulder as you search for Christmas presents in the Emmanuel Books catalog. Oh by the way, did you lose your catalog, or perhaps you de-cluttered and it went in the circular file. No problem, we are most happy to rush one out to you today. In the meantime while you wait feel free to browse through our website for many Christ centered gifts.
We are finally in full swing with our daily lessons. Since everyone in our family is involved in the summer rush of shipping books to you dear people, we did not “officially” begin until October 1st after a wonderful, relaxing and quiet week at the Delaware seashore. This summer was filled with many blessing and many sorrows and we thank you all for the gift of your prayers.
If you find time in your very full lives to drop us a line, we would love to hear how your family is doing. Also let us know how we can improve our business and be a better help to you and your family.
We hope you will visit our Saints section especially during this month of the Saints…. and don't forget our Advent/Christmas section which are full our great products to help you prepare for this Holy season.
